The Work We Take On
Most of the calls we get are springs, openers, and tracks that have finally given out after years of Michigan winters. Housing in this area was mostly built between 1938 and 2002, with the median build year sitting around 1960, and that matters for the work: a door installed in 1968 doesn't use the same hardware or opener mount as one from 2001. We carry parts for both, plus the odd side-mounted torsion setup that shows up on the older side-mounted homes.
We work on double doors and single doors, steel and wood, wall-mounted openers and the older chain-drive units still hanging in a lot of these garages. Broken springs, snapped cables, bent tracks, and off-track panels make up the bulk of the calls. We also handle full door replacement when a repair doesn't make financial sense anymore.
One limitation worth saying plainly: if a door was custom-built or is a discontinued panel style from a manufacturer that no longer stocks parts, we may need to source a replacement rather than repair the original. That's a real conversation we have with homeowners, not a sales pitch.
Where We Travel
We're based in Rochester Hills and work throughout the surrounding area, which covers 42 named communities with a mix of 1960s and 70s housing stock alongside newer construction. That's a lot of ground and a lot of different door ages.
Our closest calls are usually Rochester (3 miles), Auburn Hills (4 miles). We also cover and Birmingham, all within about 9 miles, and we go as far out as when the job calls for it. In between, we service and the rest of the named service area.
Winters here get cold enough that steel doors contract, seals stiffen, and openers that were fine in September start struggling by January. That's part of why we stock parts year-round rather than ordering after the fact.
Who Does the Work
The people who answer the phone are the same ones who work on the door. We don't subcontract the diagnosis out to someone unfamiliar with the housing stock here - a lot of the calls we take involve doors and openers that were installed decades ago on homes built between 1938 and 2002, and knowing what that hardware looks like before you open the garage saves everyone time.

That's a lot of driveways, a lot of different door ages, and a lot of variation in what's behind the panel. We try to be straight about what a repair will cost before we start, and straight about when replacement is the better call.
